Immediate price increases in spas?
Earlier, the Hungarian government issued a decree that no ticket price increases will be allowed at beaches until 30 June. But last week, the government lifted the moratorium on price increases for spas ahead of schedule.
Price rises
Under a government decree, municipalities and municipal-owned companies cannot raise fees until 30 June 2022. Most domestic spas fall into this category.
Prices at spas have remained unchanged for 2 years.
In comparison, the cost of electricity has increased fivefold, while the cost of natural gas has doubled. It is not only these costs that have increased, but practically all the costs necessary for the operation of the spas as well, 24.hu reports.
Almost all privately owned spas have raised their prices this year.
Some of them have already raised prices twice in 2022 due to cost increases. Municipally owned spas have also planned price increases from 1 July. However, this could happen even sooner thanks to the lifting of the government decree.
How much is the entrance fee?
Termalonline.hu has collected some Hungarian spas.
In the Széchenyi and Gellért baths, the daily entrance fee for a locker has risen from 5900 HUF (€ 15) to 7100 HUF (€ 18).
In the Rudas Spa, the price of a ticket used to be 5500 HUF (€ 14) on weekdays. Now, it is 6500 HUF (€ 16,5), while on weekends it has risen from 6900 HUF (€17,5) to 8500 HUF (€21,5). At the Dandar Spa and the Palatinus Spa, price increases are also expected, but not as drastic.
It is not only the Budapest spas that are increasing their prices, but also those in the countryside.
The Sárvár Spa and Wellness Baths have increased the price of their normal season ticket from HUF 4,200 to 4,990 (€ 10,6 to 12,6). The Gyula Castle Baths will have a price increase on the 4th of June. It will change from 2650 HUF to 3200 HUF (€ 6,7 to € 8).
